Comparison

GolfBooker vs Omni Golf

GolfBooker runs the tee sheet, the till and the member record as one product. Omni Golf runs the tee sheet, then integrates someone else's point of sale.

The short version

Why clubs pick GolfBooker over Omni Golf

Pick GolfBooker if

  • You want one company to call when the counter goes down on a Saturday. Not a conversation about whether it is the tee sheet's fault or the till's.

  • You want the golfer's whole history in one record. Green fees, pro shop spend, bar tabs, membership status and event entries against one name, not split across two systems that sync.

  • You are more than a tee sheet and a till. Members, invoicing, food and beverage, tournaments, leagues and the club website are in the product, not on a shopping list.

The catch with Omni Golf

  • The till is somebody else's. You run Lightspeed, foreUP or Clover alongside it, on their contract.

  • Members, billing, food and beverage, tournaments and leagues are not in the platform.

  • Three vendors in the stack once you count Sagacity behind the pricing, and two support queues between them.

The long version

GolfBooker vs Omni Golf: what the difference actually is

GolfBooker is one product. The tee sheet, the point of sale, the member record, the events and the marketing all read and write the same data, on one contract with one support line. Green fees, pro shop retail and food go through a single checkout against a single customer. Membership renewals, invoicing, tournaments, leagues and your club website run on that same data. There is nothing to integrate, nothing to reconcile at close, and one number to call when the counter goes down.

Omni Golf is a tee sheet and a distribution layer. The till at your counter is Lightspeed, foreUP or Clover, bought from those companies on their own contracts, and the demand pricing runs on Sagacity Golf Forecaddie. So the comparison is not feature against feature. It is one vendor against three.

Section by section

One system, or a tee sheet plus a till plus a pricing engine

On GolfBooker the answer to “who do I call” is always the same, because one company builds the sheet, the checkout, the member record and the events, and they share one database. A course running Omni Golf is running an operation stitched together from three companies: Omni for the sheet and the channels, Lightspeed or foreUP or Clover for the point of sale, and Sagacity Golf Forecaddie behind the demand pricing. Each of those is a good product. Together they are three contracts, three support queues and two seams that belong to you, and at eight on a Saturday morning the first job is working out whose problem it is.

Verdict

GolfBooker. One vendor for the whole operation is a different daily experience from three that integrate.

The GolfBooker tee sheet against the Omni Golf tee sheet

GolfBooker's sheet takes writes from your website, the branded golfer app and the front desk in the same instant, so the front desk, your site and a golfer's phone cannot disagree about who is on the tee at 9:40. Booking windows, cancellation rules and group limits are set once and every channel enforces them. Omni matches much of this and the table below says so: it is cloud-based, it handles the usual blocks and shotgun configurations, and its booking engine writes straight to the sheet.

Verdict

GolfBooker, on everything that reads from the sheet. On the sheet itself there is little in it.

Point of sale: GolfBooker includes one, Omni Golf integrates one

This is the row that decides most Omni Golf comparisons. GolfBooker puts the green fee, the sleeve of balls and the burger on one ticket against one customer, with inventory, purchase orders, suppliers, stock takes, brands and bundles behind it, and nothing to reconcile when you cash up. Omni's point of sale is an integration with Lightspeed POS, foreUP POS or Clover POS. That means a second vendor, a second contract, a second support queue, and in practice two records for the same golfer plus a close-of-day reconciliation that exists only because the systems are separate.

Verdict

GolfBooker. One checkout on one customer record is not a feature, it is the shape of the system.

Members, food and beverage, tournaments and the club website

GolfBooker runs membership types, automatic renewals and invoicing, a restaurant module with table maps, modifiers and table bills, tournaments with online registration and live scoring, season-long leagues with cumulative standings, points systems, divisions and six tie-breaker methods, a website builder with an online store, and email, SMS and push marketing segmented off the same customer records. Omni has none of it: no member management or billing, no food and beverage, no tournaments or leagues, no website builder and no branded golfer app. For a daily-fee course with a simple operation that may never matter. For a semi-private or private club it is most of the job.

Verdict

GolfBooker, decisively, for any course that is more than a tee sheet and a till.

Dynamic pricing without a third company in the stack

GolfBooker prices green fees by season, day of week, time of day and player category, with off-peak and early-bird rates, as part of the product. Change a rule once and every channel follows it, because there is no second system to push it to. Omni's demand-based pricing is delivered with Sagacity Golf Forecaddie, which is a third company in your operation. Counting it up: an Omni course typically runs Omni, plus Lightspeed or foreUP or Clover, plus Sagacity. A GolfBooker course runs GolfBooker.

Verdict

GolfBooker on vendor count. Omni on partner ecosystem, if a best-of-breed stack is genuinely what you want.

Switching from Omni Golf

The move is easier than most, because you are consolidating rather than translating. We tell you which exports we need before you start, map the fields, and run the files for duplicates and formatting problems before anything is loaded. Your booking windows, cancellation policy, group limits, seasons and green fee rates are configured before you open. Practically, your tee sheet rules, rate cards and customer list come out of Omni as CSV, and your product catalog and inventory come out of whichever point of sale you were running alongside it. Both go into the same place. Omni stays live until your sheet takes over, and most clubs are running inside one to two weeks.

Verdict

Two exports instead of one, and then one system instead of three.

Every row is yes or no, on both sides. Omni Golf details come from the company's own site and published reviews, listed with their read dates at the foot of this page, and a no means the capability is not offered in those published materials. Where a capability could not be established either way, the row is left out rather than guessed.

Common questions about Omni Golf
Is Omni Golf a full golf course management system?
No. It is a tee sheet, a booking engine and a distribution layer. The point of sale comes from a separate vendor, and member billing, food and beverage, events and the club website are not in it. GolfBooker covers all of that in one product.
Does Omni Golf have a point of sale?
Not its own. The till is Lightspeed, foreUP or Clover on a separate contract, which means a second vendor and two records for the same golfer. GolfBooker includes the point of sale, so green fees, pro shop and food go on one ticket against one customer.
Can GolfBooker replace both Omni Golf and my separate POS?
Yes, and that is the usual reason courses move. One product covers the tee sheet, booking, dynamic pricing, the till, inventory, members, food and beverage, events, marketing and your website. You go from three vendors to one.
What happens to my tee sheet history and customer list when I switch from Omni Golf?
It comes with you. Customers, members, membership types and your product catalog import as CSV, and we check them for duplicates and formatting before anything loads. Your old sheet stays live until GolfBooker takes over.

Switching from Omni Golf

What the move actually looks like

Four steps, one to two weeks for most clubs, and the team with you on the day. Import help and onboarding are included at no extra cost.

  1. Export from Omni Golf and from your point of sale

Two exports rather than one, because Omni holds half of it. Your tee sheet rules, rate cards and customer list come out of Omni as CSV. Members, membership types, your product catalog and inventory come out of whichever point of sale you were running alongside it. We tell you exactly which exports we need from each before you start, so you are not guessing at which report to run.

  2. We map and validate

We map the fields and run the file for duplicates and formatting problems before anything is loaded, then send you the list of what we found. Bad member records are cheaper to fix now than in your first week live.

  3. Your rules go in first

Booking windows, cancellation policy, group limits, seasons and green fee rates by day, time and player category are configured before launch. You are not opening on defaults and correcting them under pressure.

  4. Go live with the team on the phone

Switch-over morning is the one that matters, so we are on it with you: the people who build the product, from the first tee time to the last.

See it on your own course

A working demo on your operation, and a quote with the subscription and the booking commission both written down. If you are moving off Omni Golf, we will walk through what the import looks like.
